Back-End Developer - Data Engineering Location(s):
Wilmington, DE, McLean, VA, Richmond, VA or NYC hybrid
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Back-End Developer specializing in Data Engineering to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, Scala, and Spark, and be adept at building and maintaining robust data pipelines using AWS services.
Key Responsibilities:
AWS Pipeline Experience — Hands-on with S3, Glue, Step Functions, and Lambda across multi-stage data pipelines.
Event-Based Architecture — Understand Event Bridge rules and S3 event notifications. Know how to handle reruns from event-based triggers.
Step Functions — Understand state machine scheduling and downstream job synchronization.
Glue and Scaling — Comfortable with Glue job configuration and scaling. Self-researched Glue 4.0 Iceberg limitations when encountered.
Data Quality — Built a validation component for data security; understands schema drift and backfill handling.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a strong understanding of back-end development and data engineering principles, with proven experience in Java, Scala, and Spark.
Experience with AWS services and a strong grasp of event-based architecture is essential.
