The Agility Sensing‑Optical‑Engine (Agile
EO) team is seeking a systems engineer to support a newer space‑based, small‑aperture visible and IR telescope program. The Lead Systems Engineer will partner with program technical leads to perform technical analysis, manage specifications, and generate design review and technical documents. Additional responsibilities include test and design verification, requirements sell‑off, and End‑Item Data Package (EIDP) generation.
- Lead and manage system tasking activities to ensure timely and effective completion.
- Manage priorities while balancing program demands to meet project objectives.
- Contribute to Program Management Reviews (QPMR/PMR/MOR) and present to internal and external customers.
- Lead risk management processes by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure project success.
- Maintain the Risk Register and oversee risk mitigation activities.
- Drive Level 1 requirements sell‑off and End‑Item Data Packages (EIDP), and provide input on Level 2 requirements and EIDP.
- Manage the completion and quality of Level 3 EIDP and oversee the release of Level 3 drawings.
- Provide training and mentoring to team members to promote skill development.
- Review SDRL to confirm they meet project requirements and oversee the SDRL process.
- Consult on Level 1 and Level 2 specifications and manage the development and release of Level 3 specifications, SOW, and overall qualification process.
- Participate in bi‑weekly Technical Exchange Meetings (TEM) and deliver insights and feedback.
- Contribute technical expertise as a member of Engineering Review Boards (ERB) and provide input on Proposals, Basis of Estimates (BOE), and technical volumes for project proposals.
- Assist in resolving Non‑Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or related scientific discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience. Graduate degree may be substituted for a minimum of 7 years of experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of experience is required.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Prior or current experience with electro‑optical design.
- Experience with electronics, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems.
- Experience with system integration processes and best practices.
- Experience with systems engineering in a space environment.
- Active Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Leadership of technical teams, project management, and coordination of cross‑functional engineering activities.
- Control Account Manager (CAM) and Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) experience.
- Space systems engineering experience, including satellite systems, space mission design, and knowledge of NASA-STD-1540 or NASA-STD-7002.
- Proficiency in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and tools such as DOORS, JAMA, Cameo Systems Modeler, Magic Draw, JIRA, and SysML.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a track record of tackling complex engineering challenges.
- Team‑oriented collaboration and multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, MATLAB, and other engineering simulation software.
