Overview
Weld Engineer II — Textron Systems, Wilmington, MA. This role is part of Textron Systems’ Weapon Systems business area.

Responsibilities- Fabricate and weld parts accurately by interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions and specifications to meet quality and dimensional requirements.
- Create Weld Documentation Procedures such as Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ).
- Lift up to 35 lbs as needed and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Apply shop math to ensure precision in fabrication and welding tasks.
- Receive, check, and verify subassemblies needed for work orders and resolve discrepancies.
- Fabricate and weld various parts using drawings, procedures, and specifications.
- Check and inspect work at in-process and final check points per weld procedures.
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes.
- Experience with welding in a manufacturing environment and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Experience creating Weld Documentation Procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ).
- Proficient in shop mathematics for fabrication and welding tasks.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs and work in a safe, compliant environment.
- Familiarity with NDT processes is preferred.
- Experience setting up, programming, and operating electron beam welding machines.
- Experience with Pro-Beam Electron Beam Welding systems.
- Experience programming EB welders using Siemens 840D controls.
- Experience with AWS D17.1 and ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
- 2+ years of experience in precision welding or operating EBW systems.
- Welding certification meeting qualifications will be considered.
