- Manufacturing Engineer Term:
Summer (May-Aug) At Symbotic, early career talent plays a meaningful role in helping us reimagine the future of supply chain automation. Through our Internship and Co-op programs, students have the opportunity to contribute to real projects, collaborate with experienced engineers and business leaders, and gain hands-on exposure to the technologies powering our end-to-end robotics and automation solutions. We are looking for curious, motivated students who are excited to solve complex problems, bring new perspectives to cross-functional teams, and see their work make an impact in a fast-moving, innovative environment.
Along the way, Interns and Co-ops are supported through mentorship, professional development, networking opportunities, and a robust calendar of events designed to help them build community and grow their careers. Symbotic offers transportation and housing benefits for students who meet our relocation requirements.
Symbotic is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our External Manufacturing team within our Manufacturing organization. Your job will be to support external manufacturing partners and internal engineering teams by helping improve manufacturing processes, prepare products for production, and support manufacturing readiness for our automated systems. This is a cross-functional internship for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and process engineering.
Whatwe do
The External Manufacturing team sits within the External Manufacturing organization and partners with external manufacturers and internal engineering teams to support the production of Symbotic's automated solutions. Since manufacturing is performed through external partners, the team works closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to establish manufacturing processes, support production readiness, manage engineering changes, and help ensure products can be manufactured efficiently and reliably.
Whatyou'll do
Support senior engineers and external manufacturing partners on manufacturing readiness, production support, and continuous improvement activities. Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to prepare manufacturing readiness documentation, support engineering changes, and help maintain standard manufacturing processes and procedures. Work across mechanical and electrical systems, including reviewing drawings, manufacturing requirements, and production-related technical documentation. Support Design for Manufacturability activities and help identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, quality, efficiency, and scalability.
Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing and design challenges and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify practical solutions. Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including opportunities to use dashboards, data, automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve team efficiency. Travel to external manufacturing partner locations as needed to gain hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations and support production activities.
