HVAC/R Field Service Technician (Local Union 537)

The Service Technician performs emergency, scheduled and contract HVACR maintenance at client facilities. Assists with HVACR installations and oversees equipment start-up / commissioning at client facilities. Works closely with ARC service, contract and sales staff to develop long-term client relationships. Prepares recommendations for client facility service / equipment replacement.

Job Type: Full-time

• Perform routine maintenance, contractual planned maintenance contract work and emergency service work. Submit detailed reports for work completed and planned maintenance contracts, by piece of equipment serviced. Resolve any open issues or identify uncompleted tasks, as necessary for Service Coordinator follow-up action.
• Refrigeration system and equipment troubleshooting, including controls systems, for customer facilities issues. Complete service tasks assigned by ARC. Obtain client and ARC approval for work beyond pre-approved scope for non-emergency service assignments.
• Prepare and submit to ARC Service Coordinator service recommendation forms daily.
• Submit all time / service ticket reports daily, including accurate reporting of all materials used by source (van inventory, ARC stock or new purchase for work order assignment). Assure all receipts for reimbursable expenses accompany the job service tickets.
• Assure proper and timely maintenance of ARC van assigned for technician use.
• Be dignified, courteous, clean and in ARC uniform / apparel when working in / at client facilities or when otherwise interacting with the clients.
• Ensure Accounting Department has proper information to prepare client billings in an accurate and timely manner. Close work orders out as soon as completed;
  Keep appropriate notes on system pertaining to the job; review all un-billed charges weekly and work to resolve open issues; work with clients and accounting department to resolve billing issues.
• Maintain current licenses required to perform the specified service in each New England state.
• Obtain and maintain UA Star and Green Star designation.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Journeyman designation is required.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instruction manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratios, percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Must possess mechanical aptitude.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format.
• Must be able to successfully troubleshoot client equipment/plant operating issues to assure proper resolution.
