Residential Counselor (Full Time/Part Time)

Energetic, committed persons needed to provide direct care for youth in a facility for runaway, homeless, street, emergency foster care and long‑term residential care. Facilitates supervision, recreational activities, life skills coaching/training, and day‑to‑day shelter/residential management (including meal prep and maintenance) in Open House Emergency Youth Shelter & Residential Services for children and youth, ages 6‑18.

Salary: $17.05/hour

Position is part time and includes a mandatory monthly residential team meeting. Schedule is ideal for college/graduate students. 16‑hour on‑the‑job training is provided. Drug screen, national/state criminal record, NC Health Care AND Sex Offender Registry, and NC DSS Responsible Individual List checks are required.

Provide direct care, supervision, recreational activities, life skills coaching/training, and day‑to‑day shelter/residential management, including meal preparation and maintenance.

• Applicants must be 21 years or older
• Four (4) year college/university degree in human services or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• One year of experience in counseling or working with at‑risk youth
• Current North Carolina Driver’s license with evidence of a good driving record
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
