Distinguished Professor – Marine Science

The College of Science and Engineering and the Center for Marine Science at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invite applications for a full‑time, nine‑month, faculty appointment at the rank of Professor with Tenure beginning August 2026. Candidates with established, outstanding research programs in marine science are encouraged to apply. The faculty member will also take an active role in teaching and service within the hosting department.
Responsibilities• Lead an internationally recognized research program in marine science.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise graduate students.
• Contribute to departmental service, including committee work, curriculum development, and outreach activities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements- Ph.D. or equivalent in Marine Science or a related scientific discipline.
- Currently employed at the rank of Associate Professor with Tenure or above, or equivalent industry/government experience.
- Demonstrated eligibility for the rank of Professor with Tenure at UNCW.
- International prominence in a field of marine science.
- Excellent record of publication.
- Substantial extramural funding.
- Strong graduate mentorship record.
- Significant scholarly activities.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high productivity for the next decade.
No required certifications or licensure.
