Job SummaryMarine Quest Weekend Program instructors work with students from the late afternoon until lights out on Fridays and again from wake‑up to lights out on Saturday and Sunday. Staff will communicate relevant information with day and overnight staff to ensure student success, conduct recreational activities, supervise downtime and meals, transport students (typically in 15‑passenger vans), and may supervise and document students taking personal medications.

- Completion of 2 years toward a bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Ability to work outdoors in Wilmington, NC summer conditions
- Ability to navigate uneven surfaces and terrain, such as sand, sports fields, and boardwalks
- Prior experience leading recreational activities for youth
- Experience supervising students ages 9–17 years old
- Ability to carry 35 lbs
- Completion of a bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Lifeguard Certification
- Knowledge of marine sciences is a plus
- First Aid and CPR Certification, must be obtained by June 1, 2026
- Clean driving record
- Must complete online training modules and attend Marine Quest in‑person staff training held June 2‑6, 2025
Evening positions: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM Sunday; 3:30 PM – 10:00 PM Monday‑Thursday.
Weekend positions: 3:30 PM – 10:30 PM Friday, 6:30 AM – 10:30 PM Saturday and Sunday.
RA positions: 6:30 AM – 8:00 AM and 9:30 PM – 11:00 PM Monday‑Thursday, Friday AM.
Work days:
Friday – Sunday;
Working weekends:
June 12‑14, June 26‑28, July 3‑5 (includes holiday pay), July 17‑19.
Hours per week: 40.
Hourly: $12 – $18, dependent on qualifications and specific position. Additional compensation includes meals when working.
