Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The School of Nursing (SON), within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for full‑time, 9‑month clinical track at the rank of Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor starting August 2026. Clinical track faculty may be hired on a contract of up to 5 years that is renewable based on performance.

Clinical track faculty are eligible for promotion to higher clinical track ranks, appointment to rank depending on qualifications.

The primary teaching responsibilities will be assigned across the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Faculty have expectations related to advising/mentoring students, scholarship, performing professional and community service and outreach, and contributing to program evaluation and improvement. Faculty are required to have a presence on campus.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • A master’s degree in nursing, doctoral degree in nursing, a doctorate in a related discipline with a baccalaureate, or a graduate degree in nursing at the time of application.
  • Demonstrate potential for high‑quality teaching.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Preference given to candidates with teaching experience and clinical expertise in adult health, community, mental health, or pediatrics.
  • Experience with AI use in educational and professional settings.
Required Certifications or Licensure
  • Current RN license in NC or eligibility for licensure in NC.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The School of Nursing (SON) within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at UNCW serves southeastern North Carolina through education, research, scholarship, and service. The SON is CCNE accredited and recognized by the National League of Nursing as a Center of Excellence. It is located in McNeill Hall with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including the Simulation Learning Center.

Degree and certificate programs include:

  • BS in Nursing (Prelicensure, RN-BSN, Accelerated)
  • DNP with concentrations: BSN to DNP (Family NP, Psychiatric Mental Health NP, Adult‑Gero NP); MSN to DNP (Nurse Executive Leadership and Post‑APRN concentrations)
  • BS in Clinical Research
  • Post‑Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Research Operations
  • MS in Clinical Research and Product Development

Over 2,100 students are enrolled; over 85 full‑time faculty and more than 60 part‑time faculty per semester.
