Lecturer - Digital Media

Position Overview

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for a nine-month non-tenure track lecturer position in digital media to begin August 2026. The position is renewable annually with a 4/4 teaching load focused on digital storytelling, field video, podcasting and possibly media and society courses. Additional responsibilities include student mentoring and service to the department, campus, and community.

• Teach a 4/4 load of digital media courses.
• Develop and deliver courses in digital storytelling, field video, podcasting, and media and society.
• Provide student mentoring and advising for student organizations.
• Participate in departmental service and committee work.
• Engage in professional enrichment and community outreach.

• MS, MA, or MFA in communication studies, media studies or a closely related field at time of application.

• Demonstrated ability to teach applied learning and collaborate with community partners.
• Desire to be advisor for student organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to teach the use of current video and audio production equipment and uphold industry standards for production.
• Secondary teaching and service areas that meet the needs of the department, university, and community.
