Position: Marine Quest Summer Program Overnight/Residential Instructor 2026

Marine Quest Summer Program Overnight/Residential Instructor 2026

The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants to serve as Overnight Instructors for the Marine Quest Summer Program. Instructors will live and work in the residential hall, supervise youth from late afternoon through the early morning, conduct recreational activities, supervise downtime and meals, and communicate with day staff each morning and afternoon.

Responsibilities
  • Live in the residential hall and supervise students from 2:00 pm on Sunday to 10:30 pm on Friday.
  • Conduct recreational activities for individuals and groups.
  • Supervise meals, downtime, and students taking personal medications.
  • Communicate relevant information with day staff each morning and afternoon.
Qualifications
  • High school graduation.
  • Experience leading recreational activities for youth.
  • Ability to work outdoors in Wilmington summer conditions.
Preferred
  • Experience supervising students ages 9–17.
  • Ability to carry 35 lb.
  • Completion of 2 years toward a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Lifeguard certification.
  • Knowledge of marine sciences.
Required Certifications
  • First Aid and CPR certification by June 1 2026.
  • Completed online training modules and attended Marine Quest staff training June 1–5 2026.
Work Hours

Sunday 2:00 pm–10:30 pm;
Monday–Thursday 6:30 am–8:30 am and 3:30 pm–10:30 pm;
Friday 6:30 am–9:00 am. Overtime possible Friday/Saturday.

Benefits

Housing for the duration of the position and meals while working. Pay $10–$15 / hour based on qualifications.
