Nursing Faculty Position

To provide classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction to LPN-RN and/or Associate Degree Nursing Students.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

  • Receives direct supervision from Program Director, LPN-RN.
  • May occasionally receive general supervision from full-time instructional staff.
  • May exercise functional and technical supervision over instructional assistants.

Essential and Other Important Functions:

  • Conducts clinical laboratory so as to meet program/course/clinical outcomes; assists the Program Director/team members in scheduling clinical activities as indicated.
  • Notifies specified person (e.g., Course Coordinator, team member, Department Chair) of illness, emergency, or anticipated absence as early as such absence is known.
  • Utilizes approved assessment forms and clinical evaluation criteria/tools according to instructions given to provide continuity and consistency for the student.
  • Completes evaluation tools for each student and schedules individual conferences at least mid-semester and at the end of each semester; evaluates students fairly on the basis of program criteria; shares ongoing evaluation with students and Coordinator/team members in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Makes suggestions to the Program Director regarding clinical experiences, outcomes, evaluation process, and other areas of interest and concern.
  • Remains current in clinical and professional expertise through clinical practice, attendance at workshops/classes, and other activities.
  • Provide both online and face-to-face classroom, lab, and clinical instruction to students.
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom and clinical activities; develop and prepare supplemental materials.
  • Develop and prepare tests and other tools to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores.
  • Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands-on experience as appropriate.
  • Participate in curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and change; attend faculty meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and databases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines.

Other Important Functions:

  • Oversee and participate in clinical assignments; travel to clinical agencies to evaluate students and preceptors, and provide assistance and instruction as appropriate.
  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate various textbooks and select books to be used for future classes.
  • Participate in a variety of student-related administrative activities including reviewing admission requirements, progression, and qualifications for graduation.
  • Demonstrate competence regarding the handling of hazardous substances such as blood borne pathogens; continually undergo training and train students in such procedures.
  • Participate in all functions related to the implementation of the program's systematic plan for evaluation.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

  • Classroom, laboratory, and clinical instructional techniques and procedures.
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development.
  • Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
  • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
