Job Description SummaryMechanical Component Engineers will contribute to a team responsible for new reactor/equipment development and existing fleet support for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) customers. Engineers create and develop design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate drawings, CAD models, specifications, and design basis documentation as required. The role operates in a matrixed engineering team to ensure high‑quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures and regulatory agency guidelines (ASME, NRC, CSA, and others).
Roles and Responsibilities- Perform component design work governed by ASME Section III codes and standards.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and detailed design basis documentation for nuclear component designs.
- Interface with project managers, project engineers, procurement, and other business functions and partners as needed.
- Understand component material selection and fabrication processes to address supplier non‑conformances and emergent issues.
- Perform independent verification of design work ensuring strict procedure adherence.
- Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing to support cost‑reduction activities.
- Interface and collaborate effectively with internal engineering teams and external suppliers.
- Develop procedures and identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity.
- Work with technical leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements, and work processes.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from an accredited college or university.
- Mechanical design internship or co‑op experience for at least 3 months.
- Must work onsite at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC.
- Eligibility to access U.S. export‑controlled information; final offers contingent on obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government.
- Knowledge or experience in the nuclear industry.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and capability to perform complex engineering analyses producing thorough documentation.
- Experience with component design to ASME Section III standards.
- Experience with BWR/PWR reactor or equipment design.
- Strong communication skills and ability to clearly articulate technical topics.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, vibration analysis, heat transfer, finite‑element analysis, statistics, and drafting practices including GDT and CAD.
- Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment.
- Self‑starter who takes initiative.

Relocation assistance is provided. For U.S. based positions, the pay range for this role is $72,000–$108,000 per year. The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas. Bonus eligibility is discretionary annual bonus.
