Overview
Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow with the University of North Carolina Wilmington Counseling Center. Applicants should have earned a doctoral degree not more than three years prior to application.
Responsibilities- Provide individualized, relationship, and group counseling and crisis intervention services.
- Manage client caseload and maintain accurate clinical and administrative records.
- Conduct assessments related to at‑risk crisis clients and assist in mandatory hospitalization protocols.
- Participate in Counseling Center after‑hours and on‑call rotations, including Winter Break coverage.
- Develop and deliver proactive workshops and prevention programs for student groups, faculty, and university departments.
- Engage in a substantive consultation project informed by Counseling Center needs and Fellow’s area of interest.
- Provide professional development presentations for Center staff.
- Consult with faculty, administrators, and staff on student development and emotional/psychological concerns within a university environment.
- Serve as supervisor for graduate practicum, extern, and paraprofessional trainees as needed.
- Participate in university‑wide and Student Affairs initiatives and committees as assigned.
- Completed an APA or CPA accredited counseling or clinical psychology doctoral program and dissertation.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and openness to supervision.
- Experience providing clinical counseling and crisis intervention services, and psycho‑educational programming for a college‐aged population.
- Official graduate transcript noting degree completion; if not yet noted, a letter from Program Director attesting to completion of all degree requirements will be accepted temporarily.
- Preferred:
Experience working within a college counseling center; interest in preventive outreach programming; ability to work collaboratively with campus departments; development perspective of counseling services.
