The Data Analytics Specialist provides reporting, statistical analysis and visualizations that support strategic planning, student success tracking, enrollment management, accreditation, and federal and state compliance.
This position conducts robust statistical analysis using advanced techniques for data modeling, predictive analytics, and cluster analysis. The Data Analytics Specialist leads efforts in reporting and analyzing data from National Student Clearinghouse and other datasets to inform decisions pertaining to student success metrics. This position publishes data visualizations related to student retention, graduation, persistence, and achievement. This position also provides reports related to student credit hour production for academic colleges and departments.

The Specialist is expected to serves on committees related to student success as needed, and provide training and education to improve organizational data literacy and use of data.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline) with a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited universities and colleges.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree earned or in progress from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
  • Data Science experience.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Expertise using report writing software such as SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Expertise using SQL programming language in a SQL editor environment.
  • Experience with student information systems like Banner or Peoplesoft.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and train administrators, faculty, staff, and students on subjects related to data science, analytics, and data literacy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis tools (such as SAS and SPSS ) as well as programming languages commonly used for data analysis (including Python and R).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business intelligence tools such as SAS Visual Analytics, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics and research principles and study design.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multi-functional project teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
