Who we’re looking for Toyota’s Manufacturing IT Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated IIoT Platform Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop, configure, and support the Industrial IoT platform that enables real‑time data flow, application development, and digital solutions across TBMNC. Reporting to the IIoT Platform & Gemba Enablement manager, the person in this role will support the Manufacturing IT department's objective to enable team members to rapidly solve problems by providing a scalable and reliable IIoT platform.
This position will be located at Toyota Motors Battery Plant in Liberty, NC. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.
- Own the internal platform as a product, including published interfaces, versioned releases, clear support models, and adoption metrics.
- Build and operate the container platform, including multi‑stage image builds, hardened non‑root base images, a signed artifact registry, and promotion through local, QA, staging, and production environments.
- Run production workloads on Kubernetes, including deployments, configuration and secrets management, resource limits, rollout strategies, and safe rollback procedures.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Git Hub Actions, including test, lint, security scanning, build, signing, and deployment steps, with environment gates and automated rollback on failed health checks.
- Define infrastructure as code so every environment is reproducible from source and manually configured servers are eliminated.
- Create golden paths such as templates, scaffolds, and shared libraries so application teams can move from an empty repository to a running, observable, secure service with minimal friction.
- Build backend services and APIs that support high‑volume event streaming at scale, including back pressure, buffering, and store‑and‑forward capabilities for intermittently connected clients.
- Design and maintain data contracts and schema standards, including versioning and backward compatibility rules.
- Instrument the platform end to end with metrics, structured logs, traces, and alerts, and establish measurable SLOs for throughput, latency, and availability.
- Own secrets and credential management, certificate lifecycle and rotation, image and dependency scanning, and least‑privilege access across the platform.
- Build ETL and data integration pipelines connecting internal services, enterprise systems, and cloud data stores.
- Operate the platform through on‑call support, incident response, blameless postmortems, and permanent fixes that prevent repeat issues.
