Certified Police Officer (up to $25K Hiring Incentive)

- BLET certified, currently in a BLET class (within 6 months of graduation) or Lateral State Transfer.
Polygraph, psychological evaluation, medical/drug screening.
- North Carolina Personal History Statement (F-3).
- WPD Personal History Waiver.
- WPD Credit Inquiry Waiver.
- Criminal History Inquiry Waiver.
- Driving History Inquiry Waiver.
- Copy of Birth Certificate.
- Copy of current NC Law Enforcement Certificate (if applicable).
- Copy of official transcript (seal not required).
- High School transcript or GED.
- College transcript (if applicable).
- Run 200 yards.
- Step onto a step box 20 times.
- 15 Push Ups.
- 15 Sit Ups.
Video-based multiple choice; must score at least 70%.
Minimum Requirements- 20 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.
- U.S. citizenship.
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLET certification or enrollment in BLET within 6 months (or)
- Two years of full-time out-of-state sworn law enforcement experience plus accredited basic training.
- $25,000: 2+ years of NC sworn experience AND NC intermediate certificate.
- $20,000:
Less than 2 years of NC sworn experience OR greater than 2 years without intermediate certificate. - $15,000: 2+ years of out-of-state sworn experience.
- $10,000:
Less than 2 years of out-of-state sworn experience after successful BLET.
- 20% of the incentive in the first paycheck.
- Remaining 20% paid every 6 months over 24 months.
Exerting 20‑50 lbs occasionally, 10‑25 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly. Work in vehicle and outdoors.
Selected Candidate StatementsRespond to citizen calls for service, provide a police presence in the community, conduct law enforcement activities and operations, investigate crimes, utilize communications equipment, and maintain equipment and personnel safety.
