Job Description
Summary:
Assemble, maintain, diagnose, repair, calibrate and modify mechanical, electro‑mechanical, electronic, micro‑electronics, optical, magnetic, nuclear measurement, radiography, counting, monitoring and ultrasonic equipment. May work with prototype equipment, production equipment and nuclear instrumentation. Requires proficiency in troubleshooting and the use of complex test equipment to resolve component failures, program errors, calibration, or operator error. Knowledge of panel assembly, wiring, cable construction, and machine position/motion control systems is required.
Must generate analysis and documentation using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
This is a 2nd shift position. Typical working hours are 3 PM – 11 PM, but may vary to support business needs. Starting pay is $41.96 /hour. After six months of satisfactory performance the pay increases to $43.90 /hour. A $1 /hour bonus is provided for working an off‑shift schedule.
Essential Responsibilities- Maintain, repair, calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing and quality assurance automated systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and ladder logic; understand vendor maintenance manuals.
- Troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and interface peripherals and understand processes associated with programmable controllers.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art test equipment and diagnostic software to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues; modify and document software changes.
- Provide training and diagnostic assistance for other personnel.
- Install new or modified equipment or systems and update documentation.
- Create equipment information, preventative maintenance, and calibration procedures for an auditable documentation system.
- Consult with vendors, manufacturing engineers, and maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
- Acquire knowledge of automated equipment and nuclear measurement techniques through self‑study, training, and vendor courses.
- Work with quality assurance and engineering to resolve equipment problems.
- Maintain cleanliness and adherence to good housekeeping practices.
- Follow safety regulations and procedures; lead safety counseling for trainees.
- Apply National Electrical Code and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or micro‑electronic solid‑state technology, or equivalent training, with five years of related maintenance or fabrication experience.
- At least two years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and electro‑mechanical control equipment.
- At least two years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, ladder logic, and instruction manuals.
- At least two years of experience working with state‑of‑the‑art test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, calibrators, and analyzers.
- At least two years of experience using hand tools, soldering equipment, and electronic test equipment.
- At least two years of experience with microprocessor software structure and commands.
- Ability to lead troubleshooting and corrective action.
- Strong ability to read and understand written documents and procedures.
- Willingness to work other shifts as needed.
- High concentration, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
- Proficiency in documenting work to support skill development of lower‑rated personnel.
