American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for an Ortho Trauma/General Surgery unit requiring 2 years of experience and a NC or compact RN license.

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit specializing in Ortho Trauma/General Surgery
• Patient population includes severe orthopedic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, neurological trauma, and subdural hematomas
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• 36 or 48 hour contracts accepted, 13-26 week contract lengths considered
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding areas
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR charting systems
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
• 2 years of RN experience required
• Ortho/Neuro/Trauma experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending acceptable at submission)

• Provide nursing care for patients with complex orthopedic, neurological, and trauma-related conditions
• 12 hour unit orientation plus 16 hours of organizational education
• 8-10 hours of pre-start and annual online learning modules for this acute care role, completed via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
• Scrub colors required are navy or white
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover Regional Medical Center employees (perm, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
• Current travel per diem clinicians at this facility must choose between per diem or travel status, not both
• Travel pairs are allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a local rate
