Summary – The Boiler Service Technician Level 2 is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing hot water and steam boiler systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires troubleshooting equipment, performing burner setup, and managing combustion on dual‑fuel systems. Candidates should have a solid understanding of electrical systems, including basic control and motor wiring, as well as combustion theory. The ideal technician ensures safe, efficient, and reliable boiler performance while providing exceptional service to our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of hot water and steam boiler systems in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of combustion theory.
  • Perform burner setup and combustion management on dual‑fuel systems.
  • Apply a solid knowledge of electrical systems (basic control and motor wiring).
  • Provide coaching and guidance to other technicians on boiler repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed.
  • Prepare for on‑site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on‑site work.
  • Inspect vehicles for condition and check literature supplies.
  • Maintain vehicles by keeping records of service manuals and scheduling repairs.
  • Maintain tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
  • Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
  • Represent the company as a direct customer contact.
  • Determine parts to order for repairs and their timeliness.
  • Stay current on all manufacturers’ products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
  • Provide technical support to customers and become effective in selling company products and services.
  • Show flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Promote a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the company.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve processes and customer service.
Customer Service
  • Provide responsive, professional, and diplomatic customer service.
  • Answer customer calls and correspondence quickly and pleasantly.
  • Communicate with customers in a friendly, professional, and patient manner.
  • Maintain long‑term customer relationships.
  • Immediately address any customer concern and involve other company personnel as required.
Safety
  • Follow all company safety programs and report non‑compliance to the Team Leader.
  • Notify Team Leader or Safety Manager of any unsafe conditions.
  • Use proper PPE equipment at all times when necessary.
  • Report all accidents and injuries to Team Leader and HR immediately.
  • Complete all monthly safety training topics during the month.
Qualifications

Education and Experience – Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; 3 years of related experience in the field.

Computer Skills – Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Valid driver's license, Universal EPA certification.

Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings.

Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, percent, and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Physical Demands – Requires occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, climbing, constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping; material handling includes lifting up to 115 lbs.; classified as very heavy physical demand.

Work Environment – Outdoors and in mechanical/equipment rooms, exposure to extreme weather, moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, electrical shock risk, vibration, toxic chemicals, extreme cold and heat, loud noise.
