Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Based Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Video/Experienced Technicians

Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $32.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter – four times per year

Requirements
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent preferred infrastructure or technical certification / post‑secondary degree luid sub‑authorized
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • All other certifications required by location
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment

  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable, completing detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision, replacing defective components, and working unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints once a task is assigned
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in compliance with all federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
  • Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT

  • Complete 2 of the OEM online diagnostic scan‑tool software courses required by location fleet mix within 365 days Gómez volet>
