Admission Counselor:
Responsible for leading prospective students through the admission, financial aid, and registration processes to matriculate at Wilmington College. Tasks include traveling to high schools, attending college fairs, recruiting events on and off campus (including some overnight stays), processing admission files, communicating with prospective students and families, and providing campus tours. The role involves effectively managing a recruitment territory and meeting institutional enrollment goals.
and Responsibilities
- Provide effective and professional customer service to prospective students and their families.
- Visit with prospective students (and families) to provide a welcoming overview of opportunities available at Wilmington College.
- Correspond with prospective students through all channels including phone, text, email, and parent outreach.
- Develop and execute innovative recruitment strategies in a collaborative, team-building environment.
- Build and maintain relationships with high school educators, guidance professionals, and access organization leaders.
- Represent Wilmington College enthusiastically at college fairs and events.
- Attend on‑and off‑campus admission recruiting events and programs.
- Plan and implement recruitment territory events.
- Use integrated database to process admission files, award scholarships, and communicate effectively with prospective students.
- Conduct financial aid counseling contacts, including verification and award review.
- Participate in weekly Admission staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admission, Associate Director of Admission, or Vice President of Enrollment.
- Meet objectives in a timely and effective manner as outlined in office policies.
- Exhibit necessary level of knowledge, expertise, and professionalism.
- Serve as a positive, collaborative team member and coordinate professionally with other departments.
- Strive for excellence in responsibilities, meeting needs of prospective students/families.
- Maintain professional and timely follow‑up in all admission and financial aid processes.
- Demonstrate commitment to the College community and enrollment team.
- Maintain consistent professional appearance and positive outlook.
- Conduct professional behavior that aligns with office policy standards.
- Know and observe college and departmental policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree (experience in higher education preferred).
- Experience with diversity outreach and college access in secondary or higher education.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills across cultures.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills, able to prioritize in a multi‑task environment.
- Enjoy collegial interactions with public and co‑workers.
- Computer skills, Microsoft Office, web applications, database experience preferred.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and willingness to travel for recruitment events.
- Familiarity with private higher education admission and/or financial aid preferred.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as schedule and workload dictate.
