The role

We're looking for an enthusiastic AWS Dev Ops Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll help support and maintain our cloud infrastructure on AWS, learn Terraform and Dev Ops best practices, and assist our development teams in delivering software. You'll work closely under the guidance of the Dev Ops Lead and other Dev Ops Team members with plenty of opportunities to learn from senior colleagues including the Head of Delivery and Director of Security.

This is a fantastic opportunity to progress platform skills and knowledge of AWS services in a supportive, collaborative environment where mentorship and professional growth are a priority.

  • Infrastructure Support: Assist in building and maintaining cloud infrastructure using Terraform under the guidance of the Dev Ops Lead. Learn to write clean, maintainable infrastructure code while following established best practices.
  • AWS Service Support: Help deploy and manage core AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, and ECS, supporting application deployments with senior team oversight.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Assistance: Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub Actions, including building Docker images, pushing to Amazon ECR, and supporting automated deployment processes.
  • Containers: Work with Docker containers and assist with deployments on Amazon ECS, learning how auto‑scaling and load balancing work in practice.
  • Security Basics: Learn and apply AWS security fundamentals, including IAM permissions, Secrets Manager, and security groups, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Cloudflare Support: Help with Cloudflare configuration and support tasks such as DNS records and CDN configuration.
  • Monitoring: Ongoing monitoring of our systems using AWS Cloud Watch, Grafana and other monitoring tooling to help keep our platforms healthy and online.
  • Documentation: Create and update documentation for infrastructure components and deployment processes — a great way to learn the systems while contributing to the team.
  • Team Collaboration and BAU: Work alongside development teams to support deployments into non‑production and (with supervision) production environments. Handle day‑to‑day BAU tasks such as troubleshooting common issues, raising tickets, and supporting ongoing operations.
About you
  • Experience in a Dev Ops, cloud, or similar technical role (including internships, placements, or hands‑on personal projects).
  • Hands‑on exposure to AWS services such as EC2, S3, and IAM.
  • Basic familiarity with Terraform or a strong willingness to learn (a brief technical interview will explore your understanding of infrastructure as code concepts).
  • Basic understanding of Docker and containerisation concepts.
  • Awareness of AWS security fundamentals and IAM concepts.
  • Experience using Git and Git Hub for version control.
  • Basic scripting ability in Bash; any exposure to Python, Node.js, PHP, or similar is a plus.
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts (hands‑on experience with tools like Git Hub Actions).
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or working towards an Associate / Professional level certification.
  • Experience supporting and developing Git Hub Actions or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Understanding of Cloudflare, AWS Organizations, or multi‑account setups.
  • Good understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, security groups).
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for cloud technology and a…
