Hours:
Full-time 37.5hrs per week (Currently unit is open 8-8 Mon-Fri but this will be extended to weekends)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or ACP to join our Minor Injuries and Illness Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to work autonomously within a fast-paced, patient-focused service, delivering high-quality care to patients presenting with a wide range of minor injuries and acute illnesses.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder must be able to clearly demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills at an advanced level. The practitioner will practice autonomously and also within a defined multidisciplinary team in accordance with local guidelines and protocols. To provide initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care, the post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the decision making process with support from the acute medical physicians as required.
They will deliver a professional approach to the provision of high quality nursing care, acting as a role model to junior staff. There will be an expectation that the post holder works in the inpatient assessment areas when required.
Independently assess, diagnose and manage patients with minor injuries and illnesses.
Prescribe medications and request and interpret Xrays, investigations within scope of practice.
Provide definitive treatment, advice, and safe discharge or referral planning.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including GPs and emergency care services.
Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship to colleagues.
Contribute to audit, service improvement, and quality initiatives.
Ensure patient safety, safeguarding, and evidence-based care.
Qualifications- Registered healthcare professional (NMC)
- Qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Practitioner with MSc-level education or equivalent
- Paediatric and adult experience
- Independent Non-Medical Prescriber
- Previous experience in a Minor Injuries or Urgent Treatment Centre
- Significant experience in urgent, emergency, or primary care settings
- Proven ability to practice autonomously and make complex clinical decisions
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) qualification
- Experience in quality improvement or service development work
