Position Summary

Position is on the Family Support Services Team and will coordinate the FNS More Than A Job (MTAJ) Program. This includes providing intensive case management, finding supportive services and making referrals to community partners for MTAJ participants. This position will use their strong social work skills to engage participants and motivate them to obtain the needed education and job skills to gain a job and remain employed.

They will work with the participants to reduce employment barriers such as mental health, substance use, homelessness, etc. The Coordinator will work closely with the More Than A Job Education Navigator at Wilson Community College to coordinate creative ways for outreach and recruitment for the program.

Responsibilities

Managing and monitoring the program and providing any needed information or reports to the state; staying up-to-date on program updates and policy; providing case management for educational services, job skills training and/or work experience opportunities; tracking and monitoring customer activities using the electronic case management system NCWORKS as well as other DSS programs; preparing timely and accurate documentation and outcome reports to be submitted to leadership;

informing community partners and potential customers about programs through presentations, trainings and outreach activities; home visits as needed. Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting; lead and motivate others; maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, community professionals, and agency leaders. Must possess and be able to demonstrate advanced computer skills. Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferences
  • Social work experience in a Department of Social Services
