Patient Care Specialist (Medical Receptionist)

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a high level of customer service by greeting, registering, and discharging all patients.
- Collects, enters, and verifies patient demographics and financial information at registration.
- Verifies and updates all patient insurance information; maintains knowledge of medical insurance plans, co‑pays, deductibles, and coverage limits.
- Stays up to date with changes to government and commercial insurance plans.
- Maintains a high‑level understanding of the Fast Pace Self‑Pay program and collects required amounts at registration.
- Answers the phone politely and patient‑centered, demonstrating a commitment to positive patient experiences.
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying providers of patient arrivals, monitoring delays, and communicating with staff as needed.
- Retrieves, faxes, or mails medical records to primary care providers and coordinates the medical record process for continuity of care.
- Cross‑trains on back‑office clinical skills to support a cross‑functional role.
- Completes all mandatory compliance training and follows processes to maintain standards.
- Maintains friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees, fostering a positive work environment.
- Supports department cleanliness, including folding towels, cleaning tables, and keeping the reception area organized.
- Welcomes new employees, facilitates introductions, tours, and training; provides job shadowing and coaching opportunities.

- Demonstrates basic PC skills, including typing, mouse use, MS Outlook, and Word.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience, preferably urgent care.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with current CPR license; 1 year of medical office experience with basic medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred.
- Basic PC proficiency: mouse use, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Typing 70–100 words per minute.
- Basic Excel skills, including formulas and VLOOKUP.
- Experience in billing and coding (3 years) and intermediate computer skills (including Excel).
- Ability to adhere to company standards, core values, and maintain respectful culture of confidentiality.
- Willingness to cross‑train in back‑office clinical skills.
- Strong customer‑centric attitude and commitment to compliance and quality standards.
