Position Overview

The Certified Pharmacy Technician – Clinical/MAT is responsible for supporting the comprehensive clinical pharmacy and enabling services of the pharmacy and integrated behavioral health (IBH) departments with a primary focus on substance use disorder treatment. This position will float among its three locations in Edgecombe, Nash, & Wilson counties:

  • FREEDOM WILSON COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER PHARMACY
  • HARVEST FAMILY HEALTH CENTER PHARMACY
  • WILSON COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER PHARMACY

This position offers a 40‑hour workweek, no weekends, full benefits package, 12 paid holidays, bi‑weekly pay.

Essential Tasks
  • Aiding pharmacists in medication filling and dispensing processes, in accordance with applicable rules and laws set by governing bodies including the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
  • Maintaining knowledge of clinic’s substance use disorder treatment protocols.
  • Communicating effectively with patients as well as members of the pharmacy and medical teams.
  • Screening patients for eligibility in various medication access programs and tracking corresponding applications, requests, and authorizations.
  • Tracking of medication orders and specialty pharmacy shipments for patients enrolled in the MAT program.
  • Supporting medication therapy management and care management service activities including reconciling medications, allergies, and medical conditions; calling patients to obtain pertinent health and treatment related information; as well as educating qualified patients about services and potential benefits.
  • Troubleshooting insurance issues and completing prior authorization documentation.
  • Entering data into various computer or web‑based systems for the purposes of documentation or data collection.
  • Becoming a trained Medicare counselor through the North Carolina Department of Insurance Seniors' Health Information Program (NCSHIIP) within 6 months of hire and subsequently counseling patients on Medicare Part D plan options.
  • Facilitating the distribution of syringe services supplies.
  • Participating in occasional community outreach events.
Experience Requirements /

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • NC driver’s license.
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), required.
  • Previous pharmacy work experience or community health center experience, required.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Self‑directed with good organization skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

National Pharmacy Technician Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is preferred.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, 8‑hour shift, day shift.

Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking, occasional bending, stooping, lifting, reaching forward and overhead.
  • May occasionally be required to lift patients, office equipment and paper, usually not exceeding fifty pounds of direct lift.

Base Pay Overview

The starting pay for this position is $17.00. Please keep in mind that actual salary will vary based on various factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
