Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Position:
Maintenance Technician. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the scheduled, unscheduled and preventative maintenance and repair of a wide variety of beverage manufacturing and packaging equipment requiring a strong mechanical skills base including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, conveyor systems and PLC usage.

Position Description
Responsibilities- Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas (including hairnets/beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard toe and slip/oil resistant shoes, safety gloves, and seatbelts while operating forklifts).
- Adhere to food quality and food safety standards as per corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
- Report problems with the FSMS to responsible managerial employees to initiate corrective actions.
- Perform and complete repair maintenance, preventive maintenance, and line changeovers.
- Troubleshoot machinery for malfunctions (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, & pneumatic).
- Maintain production supporting equipment (glycol system, RO system, compressed air system, lubrication systems, chemical distribution systems).
- Use innovative thinking during troubleshooting to minimize downtime while ensuring food safety and product quality.
- Complete, document, and retrieve final approvals on all assigned work orders, including recording used part numbers for inventory purposes.
- Communicate maintenance and production information between shifts and with production during downtime.
- Assist in training other maintenance personnel.
- Collaborate with adjacent teams to resolve issues rapidly and drive improvement.
- Knowledge of GMPs.
- Understanding of Food Safety Requirements.
- Ability to read, understand, and work with machinery blueprints and parts manuals.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Good decision making/problem solving skills.
- Must obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Decisive, pro-active, self-motivated, and assertive.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Data analysis and identification of trends.
- Internal customer focus with the ability to adapt to variable demands of the business.
- Ability to work under initiative and think through to a solution.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred.
- Work Schedule:
Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evening, and overnight may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed. - Work Environment:
Fast-paced production plant with moving parts; hearing protection required; temperatures may be hot or cold. Environment is structured and supervised.
