ED RN Case Manager

The ED RN Case Manager works in partnership with the Emergency Department and referring physicians to ensure the efficient and effective management of patients through emergency services, and/or admission to the hospital. Responsibilities include assessing, screening, and overseeing the processing of all potential admissions from the ED. Assists the physician and interdisciplinary team to provide the appropriate level of care and services required and effectively communicate that information.
The RN Case Management in the ED will work to achieve quality outcomes and cost‑effective utilization of resources. Collaborates with the Director on issues, supervises, directs, coaches, and mentors staff while ensuring safe quality service. The Case Management ED RN is an active member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team which facilitates internal and external delivery of healthcare services to the people our community serves.

Associate’s degree – Required
Required Skills- Three years nursing experience with minimum of two‑year experience in one of the following: acute hospitals care, case management, utilization review, or discharge planning.
- Two years’ experience in leadership preferred.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and react effectively with staff, physicians, patients and families.
- Critical thinking.
- Work well under pressure while keeping calm and maintaining customer focus.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with internal and external resources for optimal discharge planning and utilization management.
- Current/active North Carolina or compact RN license.
- BLS Optional.
- Additional certifications as required by department.
