Description
Under the general supervision of the Director, Clinical Services, and according to established policies and procedures, coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient/family advocate, and works with other nursing and ancillary personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Work is of a very confidential nature. Performs other duties of the department as required.
The ED Behavioral Health Nurse will evaluate each patient arriving into the emergency department (ED) with a psychiatric chief complaint or a suspicion of psychiatric complaint upon their arrival to the ED.
- Coordinates total nursing care for patients and participates in patient and family teaching.
- Acts as a patient/family advocate and collaborates with nursing and ancillary personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
- Performs other duties of the department as required.
- Evaluates patients arriving in the emergency department with a psychiatric chief complaint or suspicion of psychiatric illness.
- Graduation from a Nursing Education program.
- Current NC or multistate RN licensure required.
- Ability to understand, communicate and react effectively to the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
- Minimum of one year Behavioral Health Nursing required.
- CPR certification required and provided. ACLS preferred.
- CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required and provided, must be completed within one year of date of hire.
