Hard Lines Merchandising Specialist (Part-Time)

- Pay Rate: $14.00/hr
- Shift: Part-Time – Open Availability
Responsible for sorting hard‑line donations, separating sellable items from outlet products, pricing merchandise according to Goodwill Houston (GWH) guidelines, and ensuring efficient, cost‑effective operations to maximize profitability and support the organization’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Research merchandise value using GWH baseline pricing guides or the internet.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, merchandising, and competitive pricing.
- Provide excellent customer service and greet each customer.
- Work quickly to meet GWH production standards.
- Ensure continuous product rotation.
- Assist with keeping production supplies available.
- Assist in merchandising produced goods on the sales floor per guidelines.
- Assist with loading and unloading merchandise.
- Receive and record donations.
- Sort donations according to GWH guidelines.
- Notify the manager of low or overstocked merchandise.
- Assist with security and safety of GWH Team Members and property.
- Assist in floor recovery.
- Perform necessary janitorial work.
- Report all work incidents and injuries immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Demonstrate a friendly, cooperative attitude.
- Multi‑task, make quick decisions, adapt to change, and work in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment.
- Adhere to all GWH Policies & Procedures, Loss Prevention & Safety Regulations, and GWH Guiding Principles.
- Maintain punctuality, dependable attendance, and an appropriate appearance.
- Maintain good housekeeping, keep aisles and pathways clear, and keep work areas neat.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- A high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Retail sales experience (preferred).
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule.

The ability to stand, twist, bend, squat, reach, kneel, push, and pull. Lift up to 40 lb regularly and occasionally lift/move items up to 100 lb (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture). Stand for extended periods. Indoor work environment with occasional exposure to outside temperatures. Normal noise level is moderate.
