The hiring range for this position is $47,400.71 (minimum salary) to $65,277.98 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications for the Gasline Technician I.
The hiring range for this position is $57,753.17 (minimum salary) to $79,534.89 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications for the Gasline Technician II.
The hiring range for this position is $70,366.61 (minimum salary) to $96,905.52 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications for the Gasline Technician III.
This position performs technical work assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of the city's gas distribution system. Success in this position provides for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of natural gas.
Gasline Technician IMajor Duties- Assists with the installation and maintenance of gas mains, service connections, and meters.
- Assists with locating gas mains and service lines.
- Assists with locating and repairing gas leaks.
- Assists with performing corrosion control on meters and piping.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Guidelines include city ordinances, policies, and procedures, relevant federal and state laws and regulations, and supervisory instructions.
Supervisory/Management ResponsibilityNone
Gasline Technician IIMajor Duties- Participates in the installation and maintenance of gas mains, service connections, and meters.
- Locates gas mains and service lines.
- Sets gas meters.
- Locates and repairs gas leaks.
- Performs corrosion control on meters and piping.
- Operates various types of equipment, including a backhoe, trenching equipment, dump truck and directional boring machine.
- Assists with hot tapping and stopping procedures on live gas mains.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Guidelines include city ordinances, policies, and procedures, relevant federal and state laws and regulations, and supervisory instructions. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

- Responds to customer service calls.
- Investigates and repairs gas leaks.
- First responder to damaged gas lines.
- Installs, removes and changes gas meters.
- Relights customer equipment.
- Performs annual leak surveys.
- Maintains cathodic protection system (if applicable).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Guidelines include city ordinances, policies, and procedures, relevant federal and state laws and regulations, and supervisory instructions. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
