Job Summary & DescriptionEmpowered Services is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. As a DSP, you will build meaningful relationships, promote independence, and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living fulfilling, joyful lives.
ResponsibilitiesWork one-on-one with each customer to understand unique needs, support goals, and provide care in a positive, encouraging, and safe environment. Provide personal care, assist with daily living tasks, support medical, transportation, budgeting, and job goals, and manage behavioral support and de‑escalation.
Schedule:
commitment to specific shifts (see Customer 1 and Customer 2 schedules).
- Experience with the I/DD community is preferred but not required.
- Must pass a background check (not all charges will warrant disqualification).
- Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, reliable vehicle with full coverage auto insurance.
- Must provide respectful personal care, including bathroom and hygiene support.
- Starting pay $23–$25 per hour, depending on experience and certifications.
- Full‑time (30+ hours a week) employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with match, paid time off, and other benefits.
Show honesty, reliability, and a positive attitude in every interaction.
Assist with nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, social skills, behavior supports, mobility, transportation, and household tasks.
Collaborate with customers to plan daily routines and community outings.
Encourage and guide customers in achieving personal goals and report progress.
Foster skill development, hobbies, interests, and community engagement.
Develop genuine relationships and help customers recognize their value.
Keep in touch with County Coordinators and report updates or concerns promptly.
Follow all safety and wellness protocols.
Complete required state training and certifications.
Approach each day with compassion, patience, and understanding, serving as mentor, advocate, and companion.
