Overview
Institution Registered Nurse (Wilsonville) – Oregon Department of Corrections. This on-site nursing role provides care within a secure correctional facility medical unit, with a focus on continuity of care, clinical autonomy, and serving an underserved population.
Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care: provide nursing care including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, medication administration, laboratory/medical procedures, and treatment in accordance with ODOC policies, procedures, protocols, provider orders, and evidence-based standards of care.
- Coordination of Care: schedule on-site and community-based services to ensure optimal patient health outcomes.
- Communication: provide patient education and act as a resource for non-medical staff; advocate for patient care needs in a timely manner within the correctional setting.
- Documentation: maintain accurate, legible, and complete records of patient care, including requests for medical attention, objective data, treatment provided, evaluation of outcomes, and patient education.
- Administrative: coordinate nursing care activities with other departments; assume unit operations in the absence of management; monitor and secure medical supplies, including narcotics, needles, and syringes.
- Possess a valid Oregon Registered Nurse license at the time of appointment. Preference may be given to candidates with an unencumbered license.
