This position focuses on the Microsoft platform with a focus on .NET server-side technologies, with some desktop skills. The role requires leading software initiatives while continuing to write code, working within a team, and communicating effectively with stakeholders.

Teledyne FLIR is looking for a career Sr. Software Engineer to join our Surveillance team. This team, with a sibling location in Victoria, BC, delivers military grade software and hardware solutions in the defense and border security markets. The team has a 20+ year history of delivering successful projects and serves a diverse customer base including governmental organizations and global companies.

The ideal candidate will be a strong software professional who can lead initiatives and still write code.

This role emphasizes client-server and distributed architectures, front-end UI, middle layer, and threading capabilities.

• Deliver high quality software by collaborating with a cross-functional team of developers, QA, product managers, and project managers.
• Lead design, implementation, testing, and defect resolution phases of software development.

• Bachelor’s Degree required;
  Master’s Degree strongly preferred in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent.
• 15+ years of experience delivering software on the Microsoft Windows platform in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing highly performant application architecture and user experiences.
• Experience with HTTP, UDP, TCP, SSL, and video protocols.
• Proficient with asynchronous multi-threaded programming, especially .NET async/await.
• Languages:
  
  C# and C++ beneficial.
• Object-oriented design; distributed architectures including microservices and micro front-ends.
• Experience with agile/lean processes and tools for source control and collaboration.
• Able and willing to travel ~30% domestically and internationally for demonstrations and installations.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
