Quality Engineer
Location:
Melksham, Wiltshire
Salary: £40,000-£45,000
Bonus:
Up to 10%
Pension:
Matched up to 7.5%
An established engineering and manufacturing business with a strong focus on quality, compliance and continuous improvement. They are now seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support production, process control, new product introduction and supplier quality across a technically demanding product range.
Key Responsibilities- Lead quality activities across production
- Review processes, controls and documentation, driving corrective actions and improvements
- Maintain SOPs, Control Plans and other quality documents
- Carry out patrol, final and document audits
- Support NPI, APQP, PFMEA and validation activities
- Support design reviews, change control, fault finding and failure analysis
- Carry out incoming inspection and support supplier quality activities
- Lead root cause investigations and continuous improvement work
- Support testing, SPC, process capability analysis and data-driven improvements
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and control of quality records and certification documents
- Provide technical quality support across Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in quality engineering or a related technical role
- Strong understanding of quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical specifications
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
- Experience with process control tools, data analysis and statistical methods
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality system requirements
- Experience in electronics manufacturing
- Knowledge of IPC standards
- Lead Auditor certification
- Experience with supplier quality and incoming inspection
- Knowledge of PFMEA, DFMEA, APQP and PPAP
- Understanding of RoHS, REACH, traceability and product compliance requirements
- Experience with Excel, Power BI, Power Automate or Visio
- Six Sigma, SPC or Green Belt training
- Experience with functional, environmental or reliability testing
- Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen and continuous improvement tools
- Competitive salary of £40,000-£45,000
