Head of Finance - Place

My Local Government client is looking to recruit a permanent Head of Finance to lead on the place directorate. Reporting into the Director of Finance, your role will be to lead the team and take responsibility for financial records, budget setting and monitoring, Statement of Accounts production, and statutory returns. Working closely with budget holders and service leaders, you'll deliver clear financial insight, enabling informed decision-making and strong financial stewardship.

As a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, including the Corporate Director and Director of Finance, you will support short, medium, and long-term planning, and ensure that appropriate actions as directed by the CFO to manage and set budgets are taken.

You will also ensure that the place finance team works in partnership with their clients and across the whole of finance and other resource functions, to provide an excellent and prompt service, whilst upholding strong financial stewardship.

To be considered for the role you will need to be a fully qualified CCAB accountant and have previous experience in a local government environment. You will also need to be able to demonstrate previous managerial experience as well as knowledge of the Place directorate as well as CIPFA accounting code of practice.

This is a permanent role with 2 days a week in the office and a salary of £64,844 to £68,987 (LG pay award pending)
