Urgent Care Assistant

Overview

As a result of continued growth, Health Hero are seeking to recruit two Urgent Care Assistants on a minimum hours contract. Our Urgent Care Assistants will undertake driving and receptionist duties to support the delivery of Integrated Ururgent Care services across Wiltshire, Swindon and Bath and North East Somerset. Our Head Office is in Chippenham, with a degree of flexibility required to support operational needs across Urgent Care Bases.

Role and hours

The role involves a dual function of driving and reception work to support efficient operation of Integrated Urgent Care services across the South West locality. We operate a 24/7, 365 days a year service providing care to service users. This role provides non-clinical support to clinicians and patients using NHS 111 and GP Out of Hours. Some flexibility across Urgent Care bases may be required within shift hours.

Bases and typical shift patterns

Our Urgent Care service operates across Wiltshire with bases in Chippenham, Keynsham, Salisbury and Swindon. If successful, your rota may include a variety of the following hours:

• Monday – Friday 18:15/18:30 – 23:00 (Evenings)
• Monday – Friday 23:00 – 08:00 (Overnights)
• Saturday - Monday 08:00 – 08:00 (AM/PM/Evening or Overnight Shifts)

Your key duties will include:

Driving

• Driving Clinicians to patients home in a safe and legal manner – adhering to current driving regulations.
• Perform basic vehicle checks at the beginning and end of shifts – ensuring they are roadworthy, fuelled and fully equipped.
• Accurate recording of all medications and consumables used while on shift.

Base duties

• Be the first point of contact for patients or carers/relatives in our designated Treatment Centres.
• Support Clinicians while on shift.
• Communicate with patients in person and via telephone (comfort & welfare checks).
• Ensure the Treatment Centre is kept clean and tidy.

Medication and Stock Management

• Use computer systems to maintain stock levels of medication and consumables.
• Replenish car stock at the end of your shift.
• Understand stock rotation and expiry dates on weekly deliveries of medications and consumables.

Full Training will be provided

The Urgent Care Assistant role is varied in nature. The successful candidate may carry out duties ranging from sitting at a reception desk and/or in a car for long periods to carrying weighted emergency equipment and undertaking CPR on the floor if necessary. A driver s medical may be required if successful at interview.

You will be required to:

• Work confidently under pressure and act professionally in emergency or stressful situations.

Please note a full UK Driving Licence (with no more than 6 penalty points) is essential for this role and you should possess a good level of driving experience.
