SEN Teaching Assistant

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Prospero Teaching is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant for a diverse two form-entry primary school in Merton, South West London. This outstanding primary school in Merton is dedicated to supporting pupils with additional needs. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning and make progress both academically and socially.

The position is open to experienced SEN Teaching Assistants, Teaching Assistants, and Learning Support Assistants.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS

· Location - Merton, South West London

· Position - SEN Teaching Assistant

· Type of work - Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, assisting with learning, behaviour support, and classroom activities

· Position start date - September 2026

· Full time/part time - Full Time

· Rate of pay - GBP
100 - GBP
115 per day (depending on experience)

· Hours - 8:15am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant.

· Experience supporting children with SEND, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs is desirable

· Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued within the last year is desirable (training can be provided where required)

· GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent

· Relevant Teaching Assistant, SEN, Childcare, or Education qualification is desirable but not essential

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

· Hold Right to Work in the UK

· Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application

· Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years
