Track Design Engineer

Location:

Wimbledon, London or Basingstoke - 3 days per week in the office, with nationwide project coverage as required.
Rate: £440 per day (Umbrella, non-negotiable)
Contract length: 6 months

We are seeking an experienced Track Design Engineer to develop and manage rail infrastructure engineering proposals from initial feasibility through to detailed design. The role involves delivering safe, cost-effective and compliant engineering solutions while ensuring projects meet programme, budget, quality and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and evaluate track engineering proposals and design options.

· Ensure designs comply with relevant railway standards and safety requirements.

· Manage engineering risks, scope changes, technical interfaces and design reviews.

· Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors and consultants.

· Support feasibility studies, site surveys and detailed design handovers.

· Ensure compliance with CDM requirements and environmental considerations.

Essential Requirements

· Engineering degree or equivalent recognised qualification.

· Relevant railway engineering experience and strong track design knowledge.

· Strong technical evaluation and decision-making skills.

· CDM, risk assessment and external audit competency.

· Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification.

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills
