Head Chef (…but officially Senior Sous)
The Dog & Fox – Wimbledon Village
Let’s be honest from the start.
This says Senior Sous Chef, but this is a Head Chef role in everything but name. Apron firmly on, pass firmly yours.
The Dog & Fox is a lively, iconic pub with rooms in the heart of Wimbledon Village. We do great food, busy services, proper banqueting, hotel breakfasts that actually matter, and events that don’t magically cook themselves.
Who we’re looking for
You’re the kind of chef who:
Can run a kitchen like a Head Chef, even if your contract says “Senior Sous”
Has solid banqueting experience (weddings, events, functions, the works)
Has hotel experience and understands breakfasts, room service, and guests who will notice if it’s not right
Is calm under pressure, organised by nature, and allergic to chaos
Leads from the front, not from the office (but still knows how to do paperwork)
Has standards, pride, and a sense of humour when the printer won’t stop
The role
Full responsibility for kitchen operations day-to-day
Leading, training, and motivating the brigade
Menu delivery, consistency, and quality control
Managing busy pub service, hotel trade, and banqueting
Stock, GP, rotas, hygiene – yes, all the grown-up stuff
Working closely with FOH because life’s too short for kitchen vs floor drama
What’s in it for you
A Head Chef-level role with support, not abandonment
A busy, well-known venue with variety (no boring days)
Competitive salary (based on experience – and competence)
Career progression within a respected group
A kitchen where standards matter, but so does morale
The small print
If you’re looking to hide in the shadows, this isn’t for you.
If you want responsibility, trust, and the chance to truly run a kitchen — while working in one of London’s best villages — we should talk.
