Production Planning & Purchasing Coordinator

Alexander Steele Recruitment is partnering with a successful and expanding food manufacturing business to appoint a Production Planning & Purchasing Coordinator.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys working across planning, purchasing and operations. You'll play an important role in ensuring production schedules are supported, materials are available when required and supplier performance helps keep operations running efficiently.

What you'll be doing

No two days are the same, but your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the ordering of raw materials and packaging to support production requirements.
  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of production schedules to meet customer demand.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers to monitor deliveries and resolve supply issues.
  • Maintaining accurate planning data, purchase orders and ERP system information.
  • Identifying material shortages, stock risks and potential supply challenges before they impact production.
  • Supporting import and customs administration where required.
  • Working closely with Production, Warehouse, Procurement, Quality and Customer Service teams to ensure plans remain achievable.
  • Producing planning reports and maintaining key operational trackers.
  • Ensuring purchasing documentation and supplier information is accurate and up to date.

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within production planning, purchasing, materials planning or supply chain coordination.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment, ideally food or FMCG.
  • Confidence using ERP/MRP systems together with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to communicate across multiple departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse information to support operational decisions.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy.
