Social Worker and Assessment Manager

• Onsite 3 days a week in Wimbledon and 2 days from home • £49,500 - £53,000 Per Annum
• Permanent (Employed directly by the school)

Forever Education is supporting a unique independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) group based in London, which provides therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational and neurodiverse learning needs. The school is seeking a Social Worker and Assessment Manager to join its specialist National Online School.
Responsibilities- Alongside the NOS Admissions Officer and Deputy SENCo, manage the process of new referrals to the National Online School against the referrals process’ service standards within clear timescales, giving clear expectations about projected outcomes of how the National Online School can best meet a pupil’s needs.
- Assess SEND needs, ensuring thorough review of formal Local Authority paperwork in relation to the child (e.g. Education, Health & Care Plans, Social Care reviews, etc.), interpreting what is and is not written and seeking further information where required to make an informed decision.
- Produce a holistic overview of the child, researching and seeking additional information relating to their needs and history (e.g. reports from Social Workers, schools, CAMHS, Psychiatric units, youth offending teams, risk assessments, local authority reports, and meetings with parents/carers/pupils).
- Hold a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the current National Online School pupil cohort and learning environments, ensuring suitability for the needs of each referred child.
- Present complex cases at internal panels, Referrals and CAN (Children with Additional Needs), providing a detailed review of the case and potential challenges in meeting needs.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Head - Inclusion, provide expert knowledge and guidance to staff on safety and safeguarding, acting as a source of professional support and expertise.
- An appropriate degree-level professional qualification (or equivalent) in Social Work (Social Work England registered)
- Current SWE Registration
- Experience of supporting neurodiverse children or with ASC and/or SEMH and an understanding of implications for communication, learning and behaviour
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team across education, health and social care
- Knowledge and experience of education safeguarding audits and OFSTED inspection processes
- Knowledge of legislation, national policies and procedures (e.g., Child Protection, Children’s Act)
- Understanding child development and family functioning, plus mental health issues in children and families
- Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments of children/young people and their families
- Ability to engage young people and families for delivery of clinical services in an assertive outreach style
- Ability to write and maintain effective records and reports (planning documents and case notes)
