Accountant
-Personal Tax

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 (DOE)
Hours: Full‑time, Permanent

A well‑established and forward‑thinking accountancy practice in Wimborne is seeking a motivated Personal Tax Accountant to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their tax career within a supportive environment that values professional development, collaboration, and high‑quality client service.

You’ll work with a varied portfolio of clients, gaining exposure to both compliance and advisory work, while being supported to progress towards managing your own portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage personal tax returns — Prepare Self Assessment Tax Returns for a diverse client base including individuals, HNWIs, landlords, and sole traders.

  • Develop your own portfolio — Work towards taking ownership of a client portfolio with ongoing support.

  • Provide tailored tax advice — Assist clients with matters such as buy‑to‑let taxation, foreign income, residency, and Capital Gains Tax.

  • Act as a trusted point of contact — Liaise with clients and HMRC, handling queries and supporting tax enquiries.

  • Ensure accurate compliance — Deliver high‑quality, accurate tax compliance work as the core focus of the role.

What you will need.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within an accountancy practice

  • Strong working knowledge of UK personal tax and Self Assessment

  • Commercial awareness and a client‑first mindset

  • Proficiency with tax software (IRIS preferred) and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills

  • Proactive attitude and eagerness to grow

Preferred (not essential)
  • ATT qualification or part‑qualified

  • Interest in progressing towards CTA
