Position: Fixed Term 1:1 Teaching Assistant and After School Club Leader at Henbury View First School

Job Overview

A Fixed Term Teaching Assistant will work 1:1 with a child in the Foundation class and serve as the After School Club Leader at Henbury View First School.

Responsibilities
  • Work 1:1 with a child in Foundation five afternoons a week as directed by the class teacher or SENCo.
  • Support the child’s learning, personalise and adapt lessons where necessary.
  • Lead the new After School Club, creating a welcoming and inspiring environment.
  • Prepare light snacks for children and supervise snack time.
  • Maintain a daily register and provide feedback for staff and parents on children’s eating habits and experience.
  • Use appropriate behaviour management skills in line with school policies.
  • Ensure a safe, secure and caring environment for the well‑being of the children.
  • Provide appropriate support and stimulation to the children in the club.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, providing professional support to the teaching staff.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience of working with children within a school setting.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of individual children and inspire engagement.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training to meet school needs.
  • Reflective practitioner committed to professional development.
  • Enthusiastic about all areas of the curriculum and supportive of pupils’ learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and exercise discretion and sensitivity.
  • Experience of 1:1 work with a child is desirable.
  • Commitment to maintaining positive expectations of pupils’ behaviour.
