About the role

We are seeking a Communication Support Worker (CSW) TA to support a SEN child who is profoundly Deaf and has additional medical and physiotherapy needs. The role will involve supporting the child in accessing all areas of the curriculum through voiced British Sign Language (BSL), enabling their full participation in learning and school life.

Key responsibilities include promoting Deaf awareness within the child’s class, contributing to the development of a Deaf‑friendly school environment, and providing whole‑school support beyond the individual child.

Key requirements

• British Sign Language (BSL) Level 3 qualified or above.

• Commitment to supporting a profoundly Deaf child and contributing to a school environment that supports all students.

• Ability to work full time, term‑time only, 8:45 am – 3:45 pm with a half an hour lunch, Monday to Friday.

Benefits and conditions

• Salary advertised as £22,094 – £25,183 per annum, based on Dorset Job Evaluation Grade 8.

• Term‑time only: 32.5 hours per week for 39 weeks per year.

• Annual salary is paid in equal monthly instalments and includes paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

• Ongoing CPD support (including Dorset Therapeutic Thinking – TADSS) and a wellbeing package linked to Schools UK and Dorset Council.

• Potential to work across two sites; travel to both sites will be required.
