- Produce an economic, functional, practical, aesthetically pleasing and compliant modular building solution for client or product development requirements.
- Take the lead in designing schemes and ensuring all relevant drawings meet approved stipulations, regulations, design and EN & BS standards.
- Scope of work includes Sales designs, Technical Design through to Manufacturing and Site Construction Design, covering RIBA stages 1 to 5.
- Produce high quality, technically accurate, cost‑effective modular building design solutions using light steel framing, hot rolled steel and timber stud panels.
- Establish and define appropriate detailing with design team members and external contractors to minimise risk and deliver compliance.
- Act as Project Lead, organising and controlling a programme of design work targeted toward a specific bid or building project.
- Manage a small design team (contract or permanent), providing support and mentoring.
- Serve as a credible, receptive and professional interface with other business areas and external clients to ensure effective collaboration.
- Become a product technical expert, continually embracing new technologies and developments.
- Cultivate relationships with internal or external sources of technical expertise to support ongoing business success.
- Produce sectional and construction detail, including finishing details, schedules and B.O.M.
- Ensure all proposed design solutions are underwritten with professional consultancy engineering calculations and product indemnities where necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of current and future technical legislation, regulations and codes (e.g., Building Regulations, BREEAM, Code
4). - Achieve client‑specific performance goals such as Waste Minimisation (BREEAM and DREAM).
- Work with engineering teams to derive, validate and demonstrate compliance with design life, fire strategy, thermal/acoustic/structural performance, air permeability and energy efficiency (SAP).
- Understand M&E constraints and design accordingly.
- Ensure all activities comply with the business' quality process framework.
- In-depth understanding of UK Building Regulations and compliance requirements for construction.
- Experienced and proficient user of REVIT and AUTOCAD, able to produce accurate drawings independently and timely.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and experience working within a BIM Level 2 environment.
- Degree level preferred, although HNC/HND considered with relevant experience or equivalent tertiary qualification.
