Location: Bristol

Salary: Up to £38,000 depending on experience

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Sliding Head Machinist to join its skilled machining team.

The company manufactures high precision machined components for a wide range of demanding industries including aerospace, defence, medical, motor sport, oil & gas, telecommunications and renewables. Working in a modern, quality driven manufacturing environment, you’ll play a key role in producing complex, high tolerance components using sliding head technology.

• Programme, set and operate CNC Sliding Head machines.
• Manufacture precision components to tight tolerances and exact customer specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Select tooling, optimise programmes and improve machining efficiency.
• Carry out first‑off inspections and support ongoing quality requirements.
• Work closely with the production and quality teams to ensure on‑time delivery and continuous improvement.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety and quality throughout the machine shop.

• Proven experience programming, setting and operating Star Sliding Head CNC machines.
• Strong understanding of CNC programming and machining principles.
• Experience producing precision components within a manufacturing environment.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a close‑knit team.
