Highpoint Health – Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157‑bed facility, fully accredited by The Joint Commission, featuring a 10‑bed Intensive Care Unit. It provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a qualified and diverse medical staff.

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

• Education: Associate’s degree required.
• Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, perform in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire; AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire; AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
• Licenses: Licensed Registered Nurse in Tennessee or a Compact State with required Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
