Position Summary
Under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope of practice, standards, and clinic policies. The role is essential in supporting providers, patients, and the care team in a busy outpatient clinic setting.

Graduate of an approved practical nursing program (required) - Licensure
:
Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/PN) license in good standing with the appropriate Board of Health Professions (required) - Certifications
:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding
- Understanding of insurance benefits and healthcare billing processes
- General healthcare background required
- Contribute to patient assessments by collecting and documenting data for RN review and analysis
- Perform plan-of-care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care
- Administer medications as delegated and permitted by scope of practice
- Accurately document patient care and clinical activities
- Assist the RN in developing and implementing individualized plans of care
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient responses and status to the RN, provider, patient, and family
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures as ordered by providers
- Obtain insurance authorizations and re-authorizations for testing and scheduled procedures
- Attend clinic meetings and trainings as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Report incidents, hazards, medication issues, and initiate appropriate follow-up actions
- Complete required safety and compliance training programs
- Assist other team members as workload allows
